Federal Revenue destroys over 60,000 lighters smuggled from Paraguay

A Federal Revenue of Brazil Office in Roraima destroyed, on November 11th, over 60,000 lighters smuggled from Paraguay. The blast took place in a nearby municipality. The merchandise was placed along with explosives in holes made with the assistance of a mechanical shovel to prevent greater impact from the explosion, as it was a flammable product. Digging was necessary in order to conclude the job. The destruction of the merchandise was a security measure. According to a port officer, ‘as it is a highly flammable and explosive material, handling it carefully is necessary’.
