The Secretariat of the Federal Revenue of Brazil and the São Paulo State Revenue Office (SEFAZ/SP) launch, this Tuesday (09/16), a megaoperation in the State of São Paulo to restrain illicit customs activities such as, smuggling, embezzlement and piracy. A task-force constituted by 870 Federal Revenue Tax Auditors and Analysts, specialized in fighting these crimes, will act in partnership with approximately 700 Income Tax Agents from Sefaz/SP, Chiefs and Agents from the Federal, Military and Highway Patrol Polices, totalizing 1,500 public agents only in this operation.
The megaoperation aims at seizing all merchandise of foreign origin without the corresponding tax receipt or whose regular import to the country is not dully proved upon payment of import tax and other taxes. The Income Tax Auditors and Agents will promote fiscal actions in dozens of locations previously investigated and mapped throughout the state’s inland and coastline.
Tax auditors and agents will rely on logistic support of two helicopters, two speed boats and three specially designed motorhomes to restrain illicit customs activities and anti-smuggling actions, in addition to dozens of vans, trailers and official vehicles from both entities.
