Federal Revenue seizes US$ 66,000 in computer products during inspection in Cumbica Airport international arrivals
Notebooks and Rambus memory sticks were seized during search in passenger’s baggage

The training of the customs inspection teams at Guarulhos International Airport, in Cumbica/SP, was tested again this Tuesday morning (01/27). At 6 a.m., a passenger presented a red passport – which identifies members of the diplomatic body – when he arrived from a flight originated from Miami.

The document caught the eye of tax auditors and tax analysts in charge of inspection of personal baggage in Cumbica. After analysis of the document and physical inspection in the merchandise, all computer equipments – preliminarily estimated in US$ 66,000 by customs authorities – were confiscated.

In addition to this penalty as a result of inaccurate baggage content declaration, the passenger was arrested for misrepresentation and embezzlement charges and sent to Federal Police prison still on Tuesday morning.

The sized merchandise are available for the press to obtain images and clarifications at the Passengers’ Terminal 1 (TPS1) Customs Offices in Guarulhos International Airport.
