Federal Revenue of Brazil at Santos Port has broken a record in seizures of products originated from smuggling or embezzlement in the first half of 2010.
260 tax assessment notes were issued, totalizing the seizure of about 3,000 tones of irregular products, estimated in R$ 160 million.
The Federal Revenue also registered a record-breaking seizure of 1.7 tons of cocaine, estimated in R$ 51.7 million. The main seized products were watches, purses, clothes, glasses and sneakers.
The amount related to fine assessment due to irregularities arising out of import and export procedures was also record-breaking, reaching R$ 2.8 million.
